A PETITION TO PARLIAMENT.

A petition was presented to the Housa of Representatives yesterday by Mr. F. M. B. Fisher, M.P.,' on behalf of John Morris Schapiro, of Wellington. Petitioner alleges that on October 8 last tho Official' Assignee: made a statement'.in the Supreme Court during the hearing of an application for discharge from bankruptcy by petitioner, to the following effect: —"That the bankrupt (Schapiro) had given security over his plant to a Miss .Sanderson, and had sold tho plant arid retained the proceeds"; and, further, "that tho bankrupt had evidently disposed of the plant mortgaged to her (Miss Sanderson}, and had npparently kept the proceeds." Petitioner says he was not m tho Court at the time, having been told by the Chief Justice that he would not be required. He urges that the Official Assignee himself seized and sold or otherwise disposed* of whatever plant ; lie re was in the .estate. After citing various instances, in which he considers his estate has suffered, petitioner asks that an inquiry be held, and that steps be taken to ascertain if the statements aliesed to have been.made by tho Official Assignee, as .set out above, are true, and, if so, that -instructions'.be given for proceedings to be taken against him (petitioner). If the alleged sfatements are untrue, petitioner asks that instructions be given that the Official Assignee make a public statement to that effect.
