THE NAVY LEAGUE.

Tlio monthly meeting of the Wellington Executive of tlio Navy League was held at the Chamber of Commerco last niglit, Mr. I{. Darrocli being in tho chair. It was decided to ask Messrs. J. W. Joynt and W. H. Evatt, of the local committee, to represent tho Wellington branch at the annual meeting of tho Grand Council of tho League to be lield at London in January., All appreciative letter was received froni tho Mayor of Auckland in reply to the League's congratulations upon tbo proposed establishment- of a naval base at tho northern port. The secretary reported regarding'the local celebration of Trafalgar anniversary, and part of the accounts for tho supper woro passed for payment. Tlio enrolment of several now members was announced, 'including Colonel Bobin, Dr. Anderson, Mr. J. W. Marchbanks and Captain Samuel. 'The secretary reported as to tlio arrangements he was making for tho accommodation , and transport. of tho juveniles coming down to Wellington from tho country districts to visit, the flagship later on. in the month. . A supply of 500 reprints of the warning articles by Admiral Mahan (U.S. Navy). "Britain and tho German Navy," were received from Dr. Levinge, of the league in London, and it was decided to place sorno of these pamphlets at the league's inquiry office, Lambton Quay, for free distribution. It was resolved that a recent donation of £1 Is., made by Mrs. E. C. Levvy should be applied towards the purchase of prizo books for naval history' competitions at tho Girls' -Collego and "Miss • Baber's school branches of tho league. . ' - ' . During the past three months shipments aggregating somo 2000 illustrated books on naval subjects have been landed for frco : distribution at the school' branches of tho Wellington branch of the league. Tho Arawa has just brought 500 copies of the Navy League map handbook "Britain oil and Beyond the Sea." These are for circulation among second-year members. '. - -
