"LOVER'S LANE." Tho final performance, of Clydo Fitch's charming comedy "Lover's Lana" will bo given at tho Opera Houso this evening, and as tho company is 'not likely to revive this play if thoy do chance to pay Wellington a return visit, the final opportunity should not bo missed. Tho great feature of "Lover's Lane" is its quiet and rustic charm. Yet it has a .strong dramatic interest and a fine human sentiment that holds tho interest throughout That is a good moment when tho minister,' forced- to resign by tho action of narrow-minded parishioners, hears tho church bells ring in the evening for the first time for fifteen years without passing out through tho orchard gate.- Tho performances of Mr. Harry Plimmer, Miss Lizotto Parkes, Mrs. Brougli, Miss Sydney, and Messrs. R. Denniston, Throsby, and Neville are really capital, THEATRE ROYAL. The vaudeville entertainment which is being presented at tho Tlieatvo Royal this week again attracted an audience of considerable proportion last evening. Among items that were particularly well received was that of J. M. West, an equilibrist of unusual skill. Graham and Gray enjoy continued popularity, and their clever musical sketch was, as hitherto, thoroughly enjoyed by tho audience. Tho remaining dancers, vocalists, and comedians who contributed to tho programme also furnished sucoessful turns. The entertainment will be repeated to-night, and on' Monday a change will be presented. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. A splendid programme of up-to-dato pictures aro being shown at His Majesty's Theatro this week. The dramatic picturo "Mazcppa" is ono of the most sensational of picture-dramas shown here for some time. Other good pictures aro "Tho Romance of a Jockey,"' "The Faith of a Child," "Burglars Expected," and the Pa tho Animated Gazette. There will bd a matinee this afternoon. KING'S THEATRE. West's Royal Pictures attracted a large audience last evening. Chief among a lot of. highly-interesting pictures are "The Mercury Boys," "Tho Eucharistic Congress at 1 Montreal," "The Phoenix," and tho Arnst-Barry sculling race on the Zambesi. A matinee performance will be' given this afternoon. A picturo of the Melbourne Cup will bo shown nest week. . STAR PICTURES. There was a large attendance at St.' Thomas's Hall last evening, when tho current programmo of tho Star Pictures was again - screened with success.A new bill will bo presented on Mon- ' day evening, ORGAN RECITAL. I Mr. Maughan Barnett resumes his series of-organ recitals to-night at the Town Hall, after the break caused by tho Municipal Orchestra concert in the previous week. This recital will be a special request one, the popular items being two of Wagner's compositions: "0 Star of Eve" (Tannhauser), and tho opera "Die Meistersinger," Chopin, Nocturno in E flat, Schubert's "Military March" in D, and "Dornroschon" (Bcndel).
The second performance of the Municipal Orchestra will , be given in about tlireo weeks' time. In tho Town Hall on Wednesday evening next a complimentary entertainment will bo tendered to Mr. W. A. AV'oodger, champion amateur sprinter of Australasia. The box'plan is at tho Dresden, where seats may' be reserved. Tho Garrison Band will give a band performance in the Botanical Gardens to-morrow afternoon.
