YACHTING.

[Br Mainsiiest.] Echocs of the Week. The fresh breezo on Sunday last enabled tho yachts to get away for tlieir week-end sail. Some of the yachts were seen at Lowry Bay and soma at Scorching Kay. The owners of the Ngaira have changed her colour from black to white, which certainly gives her ft more graceful appearance. One could not help noticing on Saturday afternoon last how well she looked, running down, Evans Bay under full sail. On Saturday she was carrying all her kites, includes a new main-sail, which looks very well. Ethel had her new main-sail up during the week, stretching it'. Mahnki also had her new sails up for a stretching. Te Rluina has been fitted with a lead keel, which replaces her centre board. Sir. Harold Smith has sold his launch Dot. to Mr. H. Brown. His new "launch arrived at the Boat Harbour last Saturday. She is a nice looking craft, and was built by Mr. Lane, of Picton. A sweepstake race will be held this afternoon between tho following:—Highett's new scow Doreen, Lotus, and Redwing. The race will bo round tho usual course. Model Yachting. At tho third annual meeting of the Evans Bay Model Yacht Club there was a fair number of members present. The following officers lvero elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Dr. Makgill; president, Mr. George; commodore, Mr. G. Androwartha; secretary, Sir. Iv. _Mit'cliell (re-electcd); treasurer, Mr. A. Newman; committee, Messrs. Andrewartha, Mitchell, and Newman; judge, haudicapper, and time-keeper, Mr. J. Topp (re-elected). Dunedin Notes. Says the Dunedin "Star"' of a recent event.on Otago Harbour:—Mr. Olipliant's new purchase, the Janet (late "Wellington vacht), sailed really well, and was neatly liandled, and from tho manner in which she behaved this popular sport cannot but be satisfied with his new boat.' Her staysail, however, was not all that could bo desired. It appeared'from tho shove that something was wrong with the hoist. If this year's championship is held in a blow (taking into consideration the way in which she overhauled tho Thelma), the other cracks will need to look to their laurels.
