The weekly ambulanco meeting was held in the' Missions to Seamen. Institute last evening before a large and appreciative ■ audience. Mr. James Moore, the ■ Missioned who was tho lecturer, spoke of the necessity of knowing how to render first aid in tho case of an accident. He gave an interesting lecture on the of the blood, and explained in simple lan-, guage the working of the heart-. Tho ; method of restoring the apparentlydrov.ned was shown during the evening by a moniber of .tho'Thorndon Swimming Club and Mr. Moore. Competitions in connection with ambulanco work were won, by sailors from ships in port. A bright, musical programme .was provided by Mrs. Swinburne, tho following contributing ' item'sMesdamcs Swinburne and' Matthew, Miss Upliam, and Mr. W. Moore. A hearty vote of thanks was given the performers.
