(By Tclograph.-Prcss Association.) i ■ :: ' ■■Christchurch, November 3. The first lons distance race held by the Christcluirch Ladies' Swimming and Lifesaving. Club-, was swum to-day in tho municipal Baths.' There were six competitors, five of whom s\ram over a mile. .They were one hour and three quarters in the venter,-■ and the majority could have done an6thcr"hour's ..swim. The race was won by Mrs. Y. Buchanan, 1 mile 1173 yards (gold medal), the second being Miss Poultcr, 1 mile 1107 yards (trophy).
