PETITIONS TO PARLIAMENT.
A petition was presented by Jfr. R. A. (bright, M,P., on behalf of Mrs! K. Clements, of Lome Street, 'Wellington, prayjng for substantial compassionate allowance for the loss of her husband whilst .he was working at a boiler which was being inspected by the Inspector of Machinery. It. appears, from the petition that the inspector was testing a safety ■ Talvo, and at his instruction deceased was told to tap the valve, which, blew out, with a result that he was scalded. He died from the injuries, ■ A petition was presented by Mr. Herdman on behalf of Jacques Slarret, formerly of Westport, and now of Wellington, asking that the Government provide him with suitable employment or grant him other relief. Petitioner, was run Dver by a number of railway trucks at Westport in 1907, and suffered the loss of both his legs.
