CIVIL BUSINESS. (Before Mr. W. K. Haselden, 5.31.) George Turner Croft sued William Croft for MS 155., amount alleged to ■ lie due to plaintiff by defendant for board and lodging, washing, moneys lent, and goods left with defenßant for sale. Mr. Peacock appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. T. M. Wilford for the defendant. After evidence, judgment was given for defendant, with Conrt costs 45., solicitor's fee £2 95., and witnesses', expenses £3 Us. During cross-examination by defendant's counsel, plaintiff almost fainted in the box, and liis cross-examination was not proceeded with. Kalph Fletcher Voice, who had'pleaded guilty on-Wednesday to the. theft of .£l2 ss. 5d.. the property of his employer, ■.. A. Kellow, was brought forward for sentence. He was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment, the stolen money to be refunded. A young man, named Frederick Sherlock Jones, whom Sub-Inspector • Norwood stated had previously been sentenced t twelve months- imprisonment for three ci-i.Tgee of theft, pleaded guilty tj a c:- irpe )f c. lumitting a certain act in tne Botdnica! Gardens. He was ]erenrded til November.7 for semens. A first-offending inebriate was aned ft., with the .alternative of twenty-four L. urs' imprisonment. '
