K November 2, 9.30 p.m. 5 London, November 2. •'■ Lord Northcoto, formerly GovernorGeneral of Australia, in a letter to "The Times" urges that in addition, to the statue already decided on as London's memorial to King Edward, the. city should also support the King Edward VII Tropical Research Fund." . Lord Northcote states that Lord Crewe,'Secretary for the Colonies, Mr. Ramsay Macdonald; M.P., Lord Northampton, Baron Rothschild, Lord Elgin, Lord Kitchener, and Mr. Joseph Cham-berlain-are supporting ,tho fund. The last-named writes that he regrets he is unable to take an active part in the movement to eradicate tropical diseases, which he firmly believes has done more than anything to make tropical lifo possible to Europeans. Lord Northcote instances the fact that whereas there were 35,953 deaths in the city of Havana from yeilow fever, during, the 50 years before the United States commenced its' remedial measures, there was but a single case in 1907. ,
