THE' TEAWLER NORA NIYEN. W MOVE.. :• • V' '~ Recently it wis announced that' the trawler Nora Niven vras ; to be engaged in the carriage of fish from the Chatham Islands to Wellington on behalf of the Chatham Islands Fishing Company. It now transpires that the vessel is to run twice a month to the islands from "Wellington ■ for thispurpose., Alternate' trips are to bo made on : behalf 'of the Chatham Islands Fishings Company, and Mr. J. M'Lean, who has-lately-entered upon fishing expeditions in this' vicinity. It is anticipated that the round trip will tako about a week in each-case, and, while not employed on these.:trips, the "Niven" will .fish in the vicinity of Wellington. It is stated that tho charter is to bo for six months. Yesterday the trawler arrived from Napier at Wellington with 160 eases of fish. Napier was left on Friday last, most of tho trawling being done near the coast, whero tho better results were obtained. Tho little vessel goes .up on tho Patent Slip on Friday morning for overhaul.

Private advices received in Sydney state that the Mimosa, which took from Australia a large shipment of horses, arrived at Bombay on October 19. During tho voyage over 80 of tho horses perished.

Now undergoing an extensive overhaul to fit her for the Wellington-San Francisco trade, the Union Company's steamer Maitai went into dock, at Port' Chalmers on Monday last. She is to leave- Wellington on November 16 and Auckland on November 19 for Sail Francisco, via Rarotonga and Papeete, and is due at the American port on December 9. The Rakanoa takes a load of coal to Dunedin for tho Maitai'3 bunkers.
