AN INCREASE—AND WHY. . Owing, it is stated,, to., the increased orioe.of cattle ar.d : sheep, the retail butchers have advanoed the.piioe of meat from yd, to Id. per lb. till round. On inqiuries being made, it . was stated that at'this time of the year there' was always a .demand for bullocks from the south, which to some extent 'depleted the. supply' -in . the districts which supplied Wellington/Jfcef has gone up , per lb. all round, '-and of mutton have rifen Id. per lb.. -There is no rise,in the price, of poxk. •
