BAPTIST CHINESE MISSION.
The new- Chinese catechisfc engaged by the Baptist Church Mission was given a wclcome tea in the school hall on Monday evening by Chinese residents int-erestcd in the mission. Some 250 European guosts were also invited. Mr. Charles Collins gave an organ recital in tho church between the tea and the' public meeting, .which followed.. Tho after meeting was. .presided over'' by tho class'leader, Mr.- MacCluskey,. who wns supported by the Rev. J. ,7. North (the minister ,in 'charge), 'tho Rev. A! Hodge, of Masterton, Captain Blackr burne, and others.' ' An' enjoj'ablo 'concert programme was .provided, and thrco Chinese, addresses.were given, and three Chineso musical selections. Mr Law is stated to have already established himself in the confidence and esteem of his countrymen. Tho mission holds two classes oil Sunday afternoon, and evening, and at both the attendance of Chineso is very largo.
