It was stated'in November of last year that the southern railhead of the Cape to ■Cairo railway had reached the. Congo frontier, the ' construction- northward across Rhodesia having been completed. The section to Wad Medani, 120 miles south of Khartum,was opened in December last. Wad Medani is an important place on the Blue Nile, and is the headquarters ,of the .Governor of the Blue Nile Province. In tho interiuediato sections, there will be considerable lengths cf water-carriage.. '
