What amount of dry weather experienced on tho .East Coast will not affect tho farmers (on the West Coast, Tar.inaka especially) in tho matter of having abundance of "feed." Tho fat stock classes always present features of special merit at tho Egmoufc Shows, and, this year, tho standard should bo well maintained. The fat cattlo classes contain steers (two-year-olds, three, four, and over, four years), in addition to a pen of threo yearling steers, any breed, for a prize of £335. In tho fat sheep classes there is a varied list of competition, for which a challenge silver cup is offered to be won twico in succession, or three times at intervals. For freezers there is a class of fivo lambs (long or short wool;, for wliich tho first prize is £7 7s. Always an important feature of the show aro tho dairy produce classes. This year tho classes liavo been rearranged undor the guidance of tho New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers' Association, and tho following classes have been inserted:—(l) One cwt. Cheddar cheese suitable for export, any . age, coloured, and a similar class for white cheese. Tho butter classes read: Not Ipss .than Sib. butter, suitable for export, exhibits ,in this class to be sent to the Patea steores. The association's challenge trophy, valued at i.. • is offtied in this class. The other classes read: Not less than J>6lb. butter, suitable for export, straight from factory; also 31b. separator butter, in lib. lolls or pats, and ' 31b. non-separator butter. Gold medals are given in\ tlie cheese and butter classes, in'' addition .to the cash prizes.. Entries close on November. 12. Schedules are obtainable from the secretary (Mr. F. 6. Treweek) at Ilawtra.'
