Tho streets of Cetera, which was dehiged after the cloudburst on Mount Vesuvius, are covered by mud heaps, iu which the bodies of women and clrildren are partially visible. Four hundred houses wore destroyed. Rescuers woreunable to reach tho village. Tho sea front ie littered with ruined houses. The tovHi of Amalfi, on tho Gulf of Salerno, is isolated. A raging torrent suddenly swept away a number of houses on tho higher slopes, and carried the inmatos into the sea. • Fifteen bodies have been recovered. TOTAL DEATH ROLL OF 300. ' KING VISITS ISCHIA. (Bee. October 28, 0.55 a.m.) Naples, October 27. It is now estimated that upwards of 200 persons perished at Cetara. It is feared that the complete death, roll will amount to 300. At Majori 50 persons periehed. King Emmanuel has visited the island of Ischia, which suffered severely.
