ARRIVAL OF CAPTAIN SCOTT
WILL LAND THIS MORNING.
Captain Robert Scott; R.N., CYV.O., leader of the expedition which hopes' to plant the Union Jack at the South Pole, abouUhe end of next year, is aboard the Warrimoo. wliich arrived from' Sydney late last night, and anchored in tho stream.' Mrs. Scott is with .him, and among the other passengers are Dr. Simpson, the chief of i his meteorological and magnetic staff, and Mr. T. Griffith laylor, o:'Sydney and Cambridge Universities, one of the geologists of the ex-, peditiun. The late arrival of the Warrimoo Caused great disappointment to those who were preparing to welcome Captain bcott ana his companions. The'civic reception which was to have been held' has been .postponed until, 5.30 p.mv to-day subject to Captain Scott's consent. ' Preparations had al6o been made to give him a fittine welcome at the. Navy League supper last night. The Warrimoo is expected: to come alongside the wharf at 8.30 this' morning.
TERRA NOVA OFF LYTTELTON.

Christchurch,' October 26. The Terra JS T ova, the Antarctic exploration ship*; which was reported off Cape Saunders at 1.20 p.m. to-day, is expeotcd to arrive at Lyttolton early tomorrow afternoon.
By Saturday it is anticipated that Captain Scott and all the members of the expedition will be here. Inr.aiediately upon the arrival of the Terra Nora, the work of unloading will be cominencedj and the members of the expedition will be kept hard at work without holiday until the ship leaves for the Far South, which will bo as soon as possible after November 15..
Mr. A. Pointing, one of the western party, and the photographic expert." arrives by the Uliiuaroa to-morrow, which will also bring Mesdaines Wileon .and Evans.

Melbourne, October ,2G.\ In the Federal House of Representatives, in committee, replying' to a question, Mr. Batclielor (Minister for External Affairs) stated that tho Government had received from Captain Scott and Professor David a denial of the statement that reports concerning the Antarctic expedition would bo given exclusively to a section of the press. Tho reports would go to Captain Scott's representatives in New Zealand, and from there would bo transmitted simultaneously to tho papers throughout Australia.
