INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISTS.
A special meeting of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Institute of Journalists was held yesterday, when consideration was given to certain proposals which-it was deemed desirable should be brought before the annual meeting of the Now Zealand body on Monday next, with the purpose of reinforcing the endeavours of the council to stimulate the activities of the branch institutes.' Mr. -F. J. Earle presided. After considerable discussion, it was resolved- to give financial support, up to ,£lO, to the council in its efforts to recreate interest in the local branches of the various centres. With -the idea of encouraging the Christchurch branch to take a keener interest in the affairs of the institute, the meeting adopted a recommendation by Mr. C. W. Earle that the headquarters of. tie council bo located at Christchurch during the coming year, there being also added, on the motion of Mr. J. A. Mackay, a proviso, to _ the effect that the headquarters of the institute should be ambulatory in future, among sueh branch centres as had demonstrated their activity. .
