AFTERMATH OP FEENCH RAILWAY TEOHBLE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Paris, October 23. At Poitiers a truck of English coal, which camo by way of Bordeaux, was found to contain a box, in which were six cartridges- charged with compressed gunpowder. All the cartridges were united by a single fuse. II;-is stated they bear English marks. At Marseilles 31 dynamite cartridges wore found on tho railway. A EEFUSED BRITISH CONSIGN- , MENT. ■ (Ecc. October 24, 9.80 p.m.) , Paris, October 24. It is surmised that the coal at Poitiors in which tho cartridges were found.was part of i\ consignment which the British Admiralty had rcfusod suspecting tho presence of blasting powder, through carelessness or otherwise.
Mr. Zohrab, manager of tho Wellington Harbour Perries Co., who has been on a visit to tho Chatham Islands, returns to Wellington from Lytteltou by the Mokoia this morning.
