THE ANGLICAN MISSION.
A REMARKABLE PROCESSION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Chrlstchurch, October 23. . The Anglican General Mission started in earnest last night, when the services in city and suburban churches ' were well attended, and the exhortations of tho missiouers attentively listened to. . ' x The Anglican mission is making its presence felt in Christchurch (says the "Press"), in just as an effective way as that in which .it made' its presence known in other places. The Cathedral on Friday evening contained an immense congregation. The service was preceded by a procession, which was oiic of the most remarkable as well as one of the most impressive ever seen in the ecclesiastical history of this city. Th surpliccd choirs of the Cathedral and of other churches, and a large number of the clergy, escorted by Boy Scouts, carrying burning hurricano lamps on their staffs, marched through tho principal streets. The choristers had tho assistance of two cornet players, whose instruments gave the tempo of the hymns. At various points tho procession halted, and the Bishop and others engaged in prayer for tho Divine blessing on tho mission. Tho whole thing was a new departure in the history of tho Christchurch Anglican communion, and it brought the mission before the people in a way which nothing clso could possibly have done!
