PROVINCIAL CENTRES.
CREYTOWN. The usual monthly meeting of tlio Greytown District High Scliool Committee was held on Friday evening last when all members were present. Accounts amounting to £10 ss. 2d. were passed for payment. Tho inspectors' report was read and considered to be very satisfactory. The frost of last Monday has' dono more damage in the South Wairarapa than was at first anticipated. OTAKI. Paraparaumu is shortly to boast of an up-to-date town hall, which is now in course of erection to the order of Mr. S. Weggery. At a football social/held at Manakau on AVcdnesday night, Mr. J. S. Fowler, an energetic supporter, and at one time secretary of the union, was presented with a clock on the occasion of_his departure from tho district. ' Mr. \Ym. Bevan made the presentation in an appropriate speech, Mr. Fowler suitably responding. The Catholic fair continues with unabated vigour, and eacli night'the hall •is well filled. Several raffles for valuable prizes have been held, these "being interspersed with musical items, etc.
