THE HARBOUR FERRY SERVICE.
Sir,—l should not take notice of the somewhat ;erfatto remarks of Mr. Tom H. Jones in his letter to you of October 20, and published in your issuo of Saturday, were it not,'that he draws .a. picture of false alarm regarding what in his ■ view would happen if an accident occurred oil a ferry steamer in ■' the harbour m a strong, northerly wind. , It has already been, stated in the press by Mr. Zohrab, the ■ manager of this company (now absent from Wellington), that no danger need bo feared in aucji a case, , as the steamers .'are 'provided with . anchois calculated to hold the .vessels during the. strongest winds.:' Belief would also be sent within a very short space of time.' . The Admiral lias its survey certificate from the Marine Department, and beyond stating that I need not allude to the irresponsible remarks of Mr. Jones regarding the efficiency of tko boat.— I am, etc., ■ . J. M. SAMSON, Acting-Manager.
