TRADE WITH U.S. AND CANADA

; ..: .TEIAL' SHIPMENTS..;, ■ ; ; I3y Teleetaph.—Special Correspondent.) ■ . Auckland, October 17. .The lack of New Zealand frozen mutton for the first.'l'risco steamer, the Aorangj, which leaves Auckland on.: Saturday, is. said, to be duo to the season., At the present time, almost the whole of the local mutton and lamb is required for local consumption, and this condition of affairs will probably continue until December, when, with the reopening of the large freezing w.orie, the export trade will be at. its height. .However, the Aorangi will.take small 'consignments of frozen beef and pork from New Zealand, and it is probable that local firms may send trial shipments, of.butter and kauri gum. There also appears, to be a possi: bility that the present service from the east coast of Canada to Australia. and New Zealand, subsidised by the Canadian Government, may be further extended by the lino making return trips from New Zealand to Canada, and, dn fact,-it is stated that during;. the . coming season' large trial shipments will be made by this lino to Montreal and Trisco. It is understood that in. the event of the experiments being successful, New Zealand exporters will cater for these markets.
