The annual/ smoke -concert: of .the Poneke Football Club was held at Maw6on's Rooms, Cuba Streot, last night, Mr. A. l'\ Wiren presiding over a very pleasant/gatheriniE of players and their friends.. •: . . ; . The toast of- tho ' 'Ponek® Club 1 was proposed by the ohairman, and responded to by Mr. T.' -Walsh. Mr. C. . Mitchell; 'proposed "The Rugby Unioris," ooupied with tho name of Mr. S. Brown.; Mr. T. Walsh (proposer): and Mr.- Mortonsen (respondent) did • justioo to the toast of : "Our Opponents." Other toasts were: "Tho Referees' Association" (by Mr. J, . Sweeney; Mr. L. SieverB 4 ':responding); "Old: Members" •(by Mri R.:l3;.Mageo: Mr. W. Hood responding)"Tho Ladies" (by; Mr. W. Hood) ; and "The' J PreSB; J '-,'by i I ,M. T. ;IC. The first;'annual social -of -the, South' Wellington': Foot-ball Club was held on Labour Day at 8 p.m. Mr. J. J:- Roberts occupiod the chair, lliero wero also present:—Messrs. Salmon, Bond, and' Milne. V Tho toast-list included— "The King," proposed by the chairman ; "The Football Association," proposed by Mr. G. V. Milne; and "Our Ollicors," proposed ■by Mr. B. Bell.. A lengthy programme war' contributed ■ to by Messrs. Gell, who' gave "The: Los- Sheep"; Roberts, who gave "Napoleon's" Last Farowell";: Milne, who gave a very clever rendering of "Our Baby"; and also by H. Wilson, who gave a'-.'recitation,. -"The' Flag." . ,A' successful evening terminated by the singing of "Auld ' Lang Syrie.".: . Mr. :Ji W. . Salmon, lent the hall froe of charge. ■■
