At: the '.annual 'general meeting of the •Eastbourne Bowling Club on.Tuesday, the following;officers were .'appointed'for the' ensuing -year,:—President,, Mr. ;H. W., Shortt; vice-presidents, Messrs. T.'/Foley, H.'.. Sanson, and F.' Wills; : cqmmittee, Messrs. J; S. Fleming,-F; J. Cbittey, aim H. Folby; hon..secretary, and treasurer, Mr. J.;D. Avery; delegate, to Northern Bowling Association, J.' D. .Avery^■!. It was decided tb : open the' green' 'for this season on,' Saturday, October 23.: .' / • .THE' JOHNSONVILLE CLUB.,' .. Despite the weather,. the Joh'nsonvillo' Bowling Club oponed .their. green this week, when there:.was :a good,attendance /of members- 'and visitors (including -a. large number of: ladies. The president (Mr.: W; L. Thompson), on behalf of the club,/ extended a cordial welcome to all, and, though bowling could not be' indulged, in that day,, ha yinvited-.visitors to come again on Saturday, when he hoped that the weather would bo more favourable. He ■ then'gave a brief history of the club during, the three years of its existence;, \This year they had .29 new members. _He congratulated the club on the erection • of, the new pavilion, and: -he added.:that he would .again present the club', with,two pairs of bowls for. competition- by. senior and junior players.- He then called on Mrs. Thompson to throw tho jack, and declared the green.open.
