It was pointed out that these competitions had been, previously held, but did not induce a sufficient number of entries to warrant their continuance. A seven-roomed house at Te Ore Ore, owned and occupied by Mr. P. Carr, was totally destroyed by. fire on Saturday. South Island matches ho played between the teams representing country associations in both islands. It was resolved to inform Marlborough Association that this association could not play a. match at Blenheim on December 25 and 2C It was decided to write to head-\ masters of schools, asking them to endeavour to work up school cricket. The application of tho South Wairarapa Club to join the association was agreed to. The Opaki Club was also admitted to the association. Fixtures were drawn, for the coming season: In a match played on Saturday last, the single-' members of tho Masterton Cricket Club defeated tho married members by H6 runs to 63. Charles Woodley, 'cnginc:drivcr of Carterton, was to-day.. adjudicated a bankrupt. The liabilities are eot. down at ',£lO9 17s. 10d., nnd assets at .£l2. A smoke-concert was held in connection with the United Friendly, Society. Council to-night when tho trophy won I in the card tournament ■ was presented.
