; the 'Church will not bo brought about ; by men who have been trained in a ', narrow groove, but by men with an all-round tiaming. Training, forsooth! ! Does'it-not stnke tho Rev. Hutson . that tho same diligent'tkeelpgical traini ing applied in Turkey would have mado j an orthodox Moslem? I make bold to say, after listening to the Rev. j. Chapplo for over seven years in tho J St. Andrew's charge, that ho lias not j been "trained what 'to think," but 1 there is no doubt' Bo has been "trained ! how to think." He has many friends J and admirers, and in a liberal pulpit i would make a name for himself. He is looked upon as the most honest, open, ! i liberal, and straightforward -man in and about Timani. Mr. Hutson attacking him is like a mosquito attacking a bull. Another remark in Mr. Hutson's letter was not correct. Mr., Chapplo ' had never been in tho English Church, , his people wero Anglicans for tho most ' part. He once attended a Baptist Church for, a short time, rather than j go nowhere. No, sir—the Rev. Hutson 6hould keep quiet. It just makes mo gmilo, and everybody in tho , know smiles also. In fact, smiles were loud, i •—1 am, etc., ALEX. THOMSON. , South'Cantei bury.
