' Sir,—Why does the Premier ' so persistently, refuse to publish the ; naines : of the victims-of his so-called retrenchment? -And why does' he add insult to .gross injury by. publicly-inferring that the ofii-. cers dismissed have their characters blemished in consequence? -l. .-■ The,fact is,he is afraid the public shall learn ;the injustice and stupidity of'the' whole retrenchment business, and' ;the wreckage" of much useful'.work .that ,was being done for the country, to say''nothing of.;the'' disgraceful treatment of many poor :, men nearing. .the age for a
