' , An Aquarium. Touching upon the general scope of the collection,. Mr.-Crowes mentioned a suggestion, made by Mr. Bertling, that a building should be erected, m which_ space-should be allotted to an aquarium,- and in which some of the more delicate land animals could be provided with winter quarters. In thisi proposal Sir. Bertling had the speaker's sympathy. Personally, indeed, he was in favour of extending the proposal' to some extent. There was urgent - need at the park of a shelter to which people could'resort in wet weaiher. 'Tho' society should try to move tie council,' or, better, some wealthy citizen, to. provide a thousand or two for tba 'purpose ho had Indicated. i " Amphibians. Referring to the space allotted at the Zoo to amphibious' animals, the president remarked that a better "water-" supply -nould soon be avadable, and improvements to the seal-pond were in prospect. - The Government should be approached with a view to obtaining two or three fur seals. These animals wero considered 'better "able to adapt ''themselves to local circumstances than tho smooth-coated sea lion. In the latter part of his address, Mr. Creues detailed a number of suggestions as' to, the lines upon which tho Zoo should' be conducted.
