More Money for Roads and Railways. Contiri'iing his address, the Prvme Min. * ister, referring to the increases of revenue, said that if they continued like that— - and lio would not be surprised if they did even taller—there would be a oonsideiable amount of revenue to add to the lo.ia • money, und tho Government ought' to be 1 able to spend a little more money on ronds, especially in the back-blocks," and so add to tho happiness and comfort, of the people who went there to cane out"" homes for themselves. Year after year the proMjnt Government had been asking Parliament for moro money for roads than any previous Government. They also ought to bo'ciblo to sjiend moro on making railways, with su;h a fine Tevenue, ■ and thus .provide faoiLlics that wows just as much required now as they wore twenty years ago, or even when Sir Julius Vogel introduced that public works policy without which this country Mould ha\o been mainly a sheep walk, and many people who'wero now prosperous would not have had the opportunity to become bo. He trusted tunt dnrirtg the next ' twelve months most people would lealise that the interruption to our progress had passed, and that wo wero on the way to steady prosperity, without any fictitious booming. Thero should be a good result to show, financially and otherwise, at .the end of the present year. (Applause.)'
