At. the monthly meeting -yesterday of the Institute of' Marine Engineers the retiring president, Mr. '• Jas.. Darling, was' the recipient of a presentation, which took the form of a purse of sovereigns. Mr. Darling has occupied the position of president for several years, and members decided, on his retirement, to mark their appreciation of his services in this. tangible fashion. The gift wae tendered, on behalf of the institute, by Mr. W. C. Richardson, who accompanied it by very complimentary references to the character and services of the recipient.
