Among l the bowlers who desire to ;try their hands early in'.the season are tho members of the Karori Club, which opened its green for the season in fair weather •on Saturday afternoon... There . was • a largo muster of.; members and visitors, 'including eight rinks from city and, suburban clubs, with their lady friends. The president; Mr. Haine* in a brief speech, welcomed the visitors and his; confreres in the club, and congratulated, the care; taker : on the ': appearance., of,. the 'green', which looks really well, and played as well as if it were midsummer. After Mrs. Raine had thrown tho first,jack, the president declared, the green open, and' play, was begun. During the afternoon n nice ; tea was provided by Mrs. Rainc., After the play, cheers were given by the visitors for the Karori Club; to' 1 which tho secretary (Mr. \V..,Cooper) suitably f responded. KHAN'DALLAh' CLUB,
The members of the IChandallah Bowling Club had occasion; for the first time on Friday night to use!their new pavilion and clubhouse, when ! tho second annual gcncrfil meeting of the club was held. There were 33 members present, and the meeting was of a mast "enthusiastic nature. ■■■ Considerable-gratification was expressed by tho,members with the work of the- directors 'during the past year, and especially in regard to the erection of the pavilion, ' It was confidently .anticipated that at least new members would be joining the club this-season, nud that :if this proved' ooirect tie club's financial:.
