THEATRE ROYAL. ' ( The Theatre-Royal was filled ,in alii parts on. Saturday liight when' the last performance of the week's programme was presented. That . clever com&lian Nat Clifford, in his "Bull Fight" burlesque, and "The Grand Hotel," kept tho audience in a high pitch of. laughter; His contributions to the programmo were really excellent, and he received another great ovation. Blanche Carelli, lyric soprano, Scot Gibson, Scotch comedian, 1 and Jack Knowles, coon singer, were well recoived. This band is on its way to the big brass band contest to ,'be held at Ballarat, and from the record to its credit ! is thoroughly capable of upholding the honour of the Dominion in Australia. "Valkyrie" selection; which; was played hero by the BessesV th' Barn Band, but which has, never yet been. attempted by an amateur band in New Zealand.- It is the band's own test selection, so that an' estimate of the calibre of the visiting band can easily be formed.' • i SONG RECITAL. j[ At the song recital to be-given by Miss Parsons and Mr. C. H. Stephens on. Wednesday night next, in the Sydney Street Schoolroom, a Sue selection of songs will be given. Schumann, Franz, Brahms, Eies, Wolff, Orlando Morgan, and Walford Davies- will be represented on the programme by some of their most beautiful compositions. . Several'of them will be quite new to Wellington audiences, others have been heard only at Mr. Stephens's earlier recital. The prico of admission has been fixed at a reasonable figure, and parties of bona fide; students can obtain a reduction. The box plan is now open at the Wellington Piano Company, Ltd. * The Mission Band will give a band performance in the Town Hall to-night.
