The Anglican Mission of Help begins in Feilding on Saturday nest with the reception of tho missioner, the Rev. A. H. Colvile. The mission will conclude on October 7. At the annual' meoting of the Feilding Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club the following officers were elected President, Mr. A. Richmond; vice-president, Mr. E. A. Barton; treasurer, Mr. F. B. Glasgow; committee, Messrs. Montgomery, Spain, J. Graham, G. Lawson, Mesdames Richmond, Glasgow, and . Montgomery ; croquet committee, Mesdames Richmond, Walker, Cotterill, J. C. Spain, Montgomery, and Glasgow. ■ The residents of the, Waituna West District gave a send off to Mr. and Mrs." Humphrey who are settling in the Wair ■marino district. SHANNON. The Shannon Literary and Debating Society -gave 4 their final'entertainment for the' season on Tuesday' night, when an audience of about _. 150 . .members and friends assembled in the Druids' Hall. The following was the programme: Duet, Mrs. Gibson and Miss Asquith! 6ong, Mrs. Gibson; ■ duet, Misses Asquith and Lauryig; song, Mrs. Galland; recitation, Mr. Gibb. Misses Asquith, Gardner, Linsell, .Wickliffe, Gunning , (2), 'Mrs. La'urvig, anj. Mr.: Barclay took'part in a sketch entitled "Mind . Your' Own Business." ; Miss Asquith 4 and Miss .Laurvig tied-in ■ a silhouette' drawing' guessing competition. Mr. Clayton's team won the Fire Brigade competition. The "star" item,on the programme was undoubtedly •the appearance .of-; the -local. . "Savages," Messrs; Clayton, Malcolm, Tilling, ' and Law (2), under the leadership of' Toa, Gibb. > They wore - recalled four times, and Mr. Clayton's "make up" and general performance brought down the "house." At the conclusion of, the entertainment, Mr. G. H. Gibb renewed the session jiist concluded, and dealt with the'question of forming: a debating union on this coast;: 'He also that'next winter :' a prize should be offered to encourage the younger members of the-society' to take part in debates.
