' ; , They stopped their, motor-car to- watoh tho pplico • driving the • people. through an ,open space called the; Kleine Tiergarten; Half a dozen policemen, .after driving : a couple of young, .girls through.; some bushes,: returned , to tho pavement, a deteotive immediately ordering' 'them ,to attack the car. . ■ They .then ruthlessly slashed tho occupants with sharpened sabres.- Mr. 'Wile, received :'a; nasty blow on the head from i flat of *' sword. Dr. Shaw, was struck heavily on Hie arm and . face. The' . blow, V.however,'': was broken by'tho car. Mr. Tower., was . 'also struck and" bruised.'Mr. Lawrenco was struck repeatedly over the right : arm and. shoulder.
