Judging by tlio attendance- at the annual meeting of the Bowling Club, over which Mr. J. T. Barry presided, bowling will boom more than ever here, during 'the oncoming seasou. Mr. 11. i'. Allen, of • Wellington, was reappointed the club's delegate to the North Island Bowling Association,and was thanked for his past services. It was decided to recommend 1 thp com : mittee to institute a junior competition for first and. second , year players, 'l'ho green is to be officially opened oil ■'Wednesday, October"l 2., I'lie following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—' President, Mr: J. : T. Barry: •-vice-presi-dent, Mr. D. H... Guthrie, M.l 3 .; committee, Slcssrs. . Lockhead, J., Bartholomew, Stewart, Irvine, . D. Thomson, Louis Pirani, Bowden', TPorspold; and' W. 'Gr. Haybittlej secretary, 'Sir;' T. J. Clapham. The Feildiug Athletic Club, which has hitherto held its sports meetings on Boxing Day, and not found them- remunerative, has. decided to' try ah ordinary half-holiday, and has fixed'upon Wednesday, January .18, for, the experiment. The Technical.. School Committee ..has set up a .sub-committee .(Messrs. Goodbehere, M'lntyre, and Montgomery) to col-! lect data concerning the needs of local employers, • with, a" view to '• supplying employment to students of. the school as the need arises.. . A second cricket club has been formed here, the Park Club, which will use the South Street Keserve, as the senior club is making a', wicket on., the racecourse.' 'The Park Club, which, is under captaincy of B. Entwistle, enters a team for the Guthrie Shield . contests under, the Feilding District Cricket Club.
