HATAITAI, CLUB'S EEPOET, • Immediately on .the-".election of tho directors (says' the first aunual report of the Hatuitai Bowling Club), the work of forming a green'and fencing the club's property was-put in hand, and tho work was pushed 'On with as .little delay as possible'in order to have'the laivu ready for sowing before winter set .in. Favoured by a fine autumn this; was accomplished, and the grass seed 1 was got.iu before the end of May.' The result has been entirely satisfactory,'arid members may be congratulated on tho fact that' a fair amount of play-will be possible during the coming season. Several existing clubs, with a true spirit of sport, will place rinks at the disposal of members who desire ,to start play early in the season. The. erection of a clubhouse is now in progress. . The .work' is well in hand, and tho building, should be ready for use, in a few weeks.', .The membership .'now'.stands at 72. The: club colours it ha.s been decided shall be. maroon and gold. In accordance with No. 65.0f the articles of association all tlie'directors ;must retire from office at the conclusion of , tho coming meeting. , All are. eligible and are standing for re-election.' .': . The first . annual meeting of the club was held last evening, Mr;..J. Kiriniborg (president) in the chair.v. The report, and balance-sheet were adopted. The latter showed that the expenditure, (exclusive of the, cost of the pavilion now in course .of erection) had. been .£1127. The following directors were re-elected:—Messrs. Arcus, Galvin, ■ Huggins, Hunt,. Einnib.erg, Laurerison,- M'Goldrick, Mitchell,' and Munro. Mr. J. Arcus was re-elected se'cretary, and Mr. H. Huggms retains'the secretaryship. '■ Mr. W. Pryor presented the club, with a set of bowls for the use, of visitors.. A set of by-laws- .was brought down and adopted. A special;.vote of; thanks Vas passed .to Mr; Mitchell,-, jun;; who .pared l tho plaris. ; arid: : specifications;for tho. pavilion free of charge. It was decided to- open the pavilion as . soon as. jft -is ready, in three or four '.weeks' : time,, but the green will not be opened until Christ-mas-time. .
KHAKDALLAH CLTTB.'S REPORT. In presenting the second annual report of the Kliandallah ■ Bowling ■ Club the president (Mr. J. A. , Plimmer) ,says:— "Owing to it being, late an-the season be-,-fore the gTeon was ready for. play,, and. also that .formation' works were still in operation, it was considered;, inadvisable .to-.have-a -' formal opening of. the club. . So' your directors decided ,to celebrate tho' event .by having , ail informal gathering' of members and their, .families. This, took place on| March 19,' 1910, and was; well i attended.. ; Since; last , report . the. ground : has, been fenced'.and hedges planted, a 'water. Servifce.i laid-.down, i the upper green' finished on .October . IS, 1909, and the lower green oil June 1, 1910. : The ground between the green and: creek has. been levelled and planted, with shrubs.' A plan for laying out the; ground was obtained,, but.» owing to the shortness of; funds further improvements could not be effected: Authority having been given your directors to raise by debentures a .sum, not, .for the purpose, of erecting a 'pavilion; debentures have been taken up amounting to .£205; Elans were, obtained and'a pavilion giving ample ac'co'mmodati6n;is; now being , erected un-,-der the siipervisioii'of Mr.*'; Crump. ;'Bylaws for the" guidance of members; have been drafted, and' will be submitted; to members for confirmation.. 'The president has signified his intention of presenting • the' club with-a small, pavilion.' ,which will bo placed near, the .lower green. ' The total cost of layitig down the upper and lower greens,v water service, fencing, 'etc.,. amounts to ,£339; 9s! 10d. The upkeep of. the upper green for nine months cost ,£22 6s.' 5d.; the work of. rolling, cutting, and ! watering was voluntar-: ijy, performed' by a few, members,, thus materially reducing expenditure, in this direction. The club has joined |he Wellington Centre, and in the coming season lull- take - part : in .the following competi-. tionsSenior Pennants,. Edwin Feathers, Hill -Pins, 'and Junior .Stars. . The thanks of. the;, club: are due.: to. the, ladies who. provided refreshments on soveral afternoons, ; toMtiembers who donated cash and shrubs, to Mr.' M.. P. Smith: for taking, levels'for'; the water service and peg'ging;;the green, -to Mr. M,. P.' ; Cameron for his kindness in' placing a room', at the, disposal of the ,-directors : for their meetings, and to tlio 'members of th,o various working bees. The financial, statement shows that re-, ceipts; amounted to .£ll3 Bs. fid. for the year ended August 31j which amount was .£39 12s. 4<l. over the' expenditure.The 'assets of the'- club.' amounttor -13s. Id., of ' which . sum .£989, is represented in the. property and improvement' acoount. The, _ liabilities consist of . mortgages amounting to >£923 2s.': fid; 0h... the land, property, and debentures.
