FIVE SEPARATE COLLISIONS. INFURIATED MOBS OF STRIKERS. I (Bee.' September '29, 0.20; a.m.)' " ' , Berlin, September 28. In the riots last night 90 .persons were injured, including many who were out with sabres, one being fatally wounded. Half a dozen polioemen were also injured. ; . ' ' ; ~ The police were, unable for some time to use weapons, and they were therefore enjoined, yesterday to ■ use their' sabres freely if-there were further attacks, and to fire at windows, if missiles were thrown from them., The rioters were warned that it would be impossible to spare women and children if they were used as,a shield. There were five separate collisions, last nigTTt, and the police were content to scatter tho mobs by intermittent oharges, and a vigorous application of the ; flat ' of the sabre, using the edge .against recalcitrants; This was until revolver shots emanated from a balcony on the Beussel . Strasse. The police , then freely used their pistols. The infuriated rioters replied with a fusillade of beer .glasses, bottles, and coal briquettes. , , ; : ' ; A ■ final oharge,' however, , oleared :; the thoroughfares. • ■ ..' ■ Police, armed ; to the teeth, were placed at all. strategic. points on bridges, streetorossings, alleys, courtyards, and factories." : ■/' In one case the police; were entering an upper flat when missiles ,were. .tMown 'at - them.' A woman hurled a lighted lamp, "which was luckily extinguished! ■/ The mobs were dispersed at' midnight. ' . The riot: is desoribed as .unparalleled' since 1818.
