The conference at Edinburgh between the Boilermakers' Society and the Shipbuilding Employers' Federation has been adjourned. No date, has been fixed- for its resumption. The'"Daily Chronicle" says the outlook in the shipbuilding trade'is gloomy, and the men's leaders' are surprised at the. uncompromising attitude of the employers'. A withdrawal from this attitude is declared to be. an indispensable preliminary to allay the irritation amongst the men .before a ballot is taken regarding the question of guarantees for the future.observance of the terms of the trade agreement. London,, September 23. The shipbuilders have intimated; that their proposal, as cabled, is final, and that the onus for the continuance of the lockout is thrown on the men. - •> 'THE OSBORNE JUDCMENT. TRADES UNION PLANS. ' The "Manchester Guardian" sayb the trade union's will confer respecting Osborne decision, and send a deputation to Mr. Asquith, the Prime Minister; In the event of , his refusal to agree to an alteration of, the law, the trades unions will, adds, the '.'Guardian," declare war on' the. Government. •' , Mr. Osborne, in a letter to the news-' papers, . says the.'Socialists have captured; the. ..machinery. ,of the trades unions; henoe .the , vote of the recent .oongress... Mr. Osborne adds that the resolution was ; a screaming , farce, and not representative of the mass of the trados unions. PERTH TRAM DISPUTE. Porth, September 24. The Perth tram employees' , ballot for the acceptance or otherwise of the company's offer of classification at a higher rate .of pay in lieu of the arbitration award proved abortive, the majority abstaining from -voting. -
