■ Under tlio auspices of the. Old Boys' Club, Mr. T. Pronert, of l)urbau, South Alrica, gave, a , most interesting/.and instructive lecture at tho X.A1.0.A.-last night. Tho lccture 'whs illustrated by a series of one lumdred and .iilty : lantern. slides. The pictures'of the Victoria .Vails' on-, tho Zambesi ltiver and the gravo of Cecil Rhodes were most interesting. A very hearty : vote'- of thanks: was accorded to. Mr. Probert with much, enthusiasm.. The. eighth anniversary celebrations of the Y.M.C.A. will bo, held in the Town Hall on - Wednesday, October ~5. Details of the programme are being arranged with, the customary thoroughness. Tlie chief attraction oil this occasion will be the presence.in Wellington of. the second National Convention, of, the : Y.M.C.A. and" of Air. J. J. Virgo, national secretary, who. is ono of tiie greatest secretaries, singers/ and speakers in the whole movement, of the - iiAI.C.A. 'The Ladies'- Auxiliary held a largely-attended, meeting on Thursday aitern'oon; and Inade'arrangements, under the presidency of Mrs';' I 1 ossettti, to hold a monster . "Oldo Englishe Tea.". The costumes will be splendid,' and will .illustrate different. periods in the English history. Ono. or tho'dresses to bo wom'-is over, one liuhdrod and fifty, years ' old.
