This afternoon will seo tho annual Benefit Cup match, which this year is to' be played between Oriental and ,St. James.,' Oriental/as the championship winners, are holders of the Benefit Cup, and, according to the conditions,'" St. James meet them in competition fo rits possession. Tho challengers . liavo played consistently right through',tho season, and were the ruiuiers-up to the champions, so that in competition for its possession. The proceeds ? of-. this match are devoted to assisting'injured players or necessitous cases. As an early match, Southern, meet Athletic in the third-class championship, and this should provide an interesting contest. Most: ; followers of'the game will remember J. Bennett, a prominent' member of the Melrose Cluo. .j'For some: time ho has been laid by with a serious illness, and, on Saturday next, a' match is being played to assist him and his, family. The teams i are to be ; selected' to represent the ."A 1 ! "team forwards, and the "B" team backs, against the "B" team forwards and "A team backs. It is' expected that : a good exhibition should bo witnessed, and , a substantial amount made; available to assist this deserving case. '■. "'■

Spectators at, the institute sports ..on" tho park will have a - good view: of the race, .as it is / intended to run about a mile on the park; track. .
