The Canadian Manufacturers' Convention has passed a resolution in favour of reciprocal preferential trade within the Empire, thereby freeing it from dependence for its food supply on foreign countries. In expectation of changes in the Australian tariff, .the Convention asked the Dominion- Government,'to arrange for preferential Customs duties within the Commonwealth. No decision was'reached'on ■tion of reciprocity-with the United States.
