—*— —— - WELL-KNOWN KESIDENT'S DEATH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dannevirke, September 21. Andrew Gardiner, manager of the Tiratau Sawmill, died suddenly last evening at the. Club Hotel stables. Deceased was a well-known resident of the district. He was a widower.,! and lived with his married son.at iiangatera. APPARENTLY DKO WNED. '.Napier, September 21. Yesterday, the body of A. Schaare, settler on the .Tangoio Estate, was found on tho. beach: near that place. Deceased was last seen, alive by a neighbouring, settler's, wife .on September'lo, but bis. absence from the.locality caused no uneasiness, as it was thought he had.gone to visit his wife, who resides at llakotuku. On the 20th, however, as he had not returned, a search party was formed, and' the body found as stated. Death had apparently occurred some days, previously. All .'the circumstances point to accidental. death by ' drowning, as deceased's clothes,'with a towel on the topi were : found: on , the beach. An inquest' will.be held to-morrow.
