The sacerdotal jubilee .of the Very Iter.;' Dean Regnault, Provincial, of the Society- of Mary, in New Zealand, was celebrated at St., Patrick's College on Monday evening and • yesterday. As head of the Marist Order, Dean Regnault has come ■ into intimate relation with the college and its students, and the boys, seized the opportunity of expressing. their appreciation 0f... the Dean's work by entertaining him at a vocal .and instrumental concert in the College Hall. Besides the Dean, there were present the : city clergy and. a number of visiting, priests. An address in French W3s read 'and presented- by the Head ■ Prefect, Brian Malone, and several French songs and recitations were _ given by the: boys. ' Yesterday morning, Dean Regnault celebrated a Solemn High Mass of at St. Joseph's, Buckle Street, the music of the Mass being rendered by the college ohoir. -Subsequently, tire Dean was the guest of the clergy at a dinner given at the college; Some 31 priests, representing .the dioceses 1 of Wellington and Christchurch assembled to do honour to the occasion. The Dean's.' health was proposed by the Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy, rector. .The Very Rov. Thomas O'Shea, SiM., Vicar-Genoral, and the Very Rev. Father Murray, Provincial of tho Rederoptorists, also spoke, eulogising the Dean's work. On behalf of the clergy, Dr. Kennedy presented 'Dean Regnault .with several volumes of the new Catholic Encvclooaedia.
