Association wrote . stating that at tho recent tram-way-loan poll tho names of some persons who.; were entitled, to vote were erased by the board from the roll, whilst others having the same qualifications wore retained. ; . . It was resolved to' advise the association that new rolls' were being pre l pared, immediately. ". ■ ■_ . •• In reference'.to the dual voting question, an opinion was read from Mr. Martin, which stated that "a person having qualifications in 'each' 'sub-dis-trict ;is entitled to vote in each subdistrict.'' ■ In response to a petition graying for another tramway loan poll, signed by a numbe rof Petone ratepayers, the board decided to: make arrangements for tho taking'of another poll at once. It was resolved to sign and print the new . rolls. The monthly meeting of the Petpno , District High School Committee was held last evening, there being present: Mr. D. M'Kenzio (chairman), and Messrs. W. Hill, G. Kirk, P. Cairns, tho Rev. A. Thomson, and W. Bum (secretary). The report of the board's inspectors on tho recent annual examination (marked confidential) was read. Tho general tenor of tho inspectors' remarks was of a commendatory charact.er, and on tho motion of the Rev. A. Thomson the committee recorded its gratification that the work of tho school had been so satisfactorily reported upon. The chairman commented upon the timo which was givon to such subjects as brushwork and woodwork, to the detriment of the more essential subjects of primary education. He would like to see more time given; to pjithmetic. ,
