The'case':of Mr. D. Fallon, who was the original/contractor for ' the Kaihau railway, was brought tinder the notice of the' Minister for- Public. Works (the Hon. ,K. M'Kenzic) on Wednesdayby a 1 'deputation comprising several of the! Auckland mem' : headed by Mr.. La wry. It: was stated that there was a balance of six- thousand pounds owing to Mr. Fallon when tho Kaihau Valley Railway . Company, : /which was prosecuting' the :work, went v into liquidation. The Government., lias now taken over this line; and is pushing it ,'on to "completion, and is deriving/ considerable) benefit from Mr. Fallon's initial ef-' fort. Tho' Minister for Public Works assured the deputation that, although Mr.' Fallon had no legal claim, the Government would deal with Jiia case in equity, and the matter was now before .Cabinet. ■ Messrs. S. E..
