Works Committee recommended, inter alia: That the construction of a bridge culvert at South Karori and-the 'deviation of the'Karori" stream.'be proceeded with, according to the plans of the borough engineer; that legal advico be obtained as to ,tho council's relations with the Makara County Council regarding the maintenance of Parkvale Road, ' South Karori Road and branches and tnu Main Road, and as to whether a subsidy could bp obtained from theCpunty Council for the maintenance of same; that the Makiira. County Council be written to pointing out that no maintenance work is being done on a certain portion of the Parkvale • Boad, and that the neglect is detrimental to the borough's portion of the road. .

The'first of these recommendations was objected to by some members on the ground that the Makara County Council ought to contribute to the work, but the clause was eventually adopted. Councillor Burn, speaking to the next clause, said that at present ICarori was maintaining the whole of Makara Hill, though for every three Karori vehicles that went over it there were twenty Makara vehicles.

Councillor Haino said tho borough kept up a number of roads which were of far more use to Makara than to Karori.

Other councillors spoke to similar effect, and it was stated that the raising of the question might lead to an adjustment.

The committee's recommendations were adopted.

It was resolved, on tho recommendation of tho Works Committee, that a concrete wall and gates be erected at the recreation ground when funds aro available, and that depots be made on the main Toacl for the storage of metal for tramway extension purposes,
