The first two resulted in slight, damage,/but the third, in the Waratah Tea-rooms, Esk Street, gutted the interior - and resulted in considerable damage by smoke to tho stock in "the adjoining premises of Lillicrap and M'Naughton, booksellers, Dresden Piano Company, and the dentistry- rooms 'of C. C. Moffett in the top flat. Mrs. Young, owner of the tea-rooms, escaped with her family in night attire. The business was insured for .£250 in tho Now Zealand Office. Lillicrap and M'Naughton were covered by , policies in various offices. The Dresden Company lias a separate insurance on its stock, Tho building, owned by Robort Erskine, is insured for d£2ooo in the Norwich Union, and ,£SOO in the Royal Exchange
