Tho deceased prelate was born in London in 1811, and after passing several years as student and professor at Old Hall, being ordained in 1801, was appointed to St. Mary's, 1 Ryde, as his first, mission ; in' 186 G. Appointed as the first Vicar-General of the diocese.of .Portsmouth in 1882,.he was created a Privato Chamberlain, and Protonotary Apostolic by .Leo XIII, and became Provost of the Portsmouth Chapter in succession to Mgr. Crookall.
