From a stage decorated with green trees, some of the most talentod members of the Eastbourne Savage Club dispensed mirth and harmony at the Day's Bay pavilion ou Saturday night. It was a "ladies' evening," and the many guests were welcomed by Big Chief.C. P, Skerrett. A haka of welcome was danced by llua H. Girdlettone and some-of the savagoat.of tho Savages. Bro. Savage Borneo Gardiner "trilled", sweetly. Songs.; and- other items were contributed by Bro. Savages Wyatt', E. Shortt, Jock Morrison,-W. Grant, Collins, Dr. D. N. Isaacs, and The musical director was Bro. Savage P. G. Palmer, and tho orchestra was conducted by Mr. .1. Morris.' The programme' was followed by supper,' and .the.last act of a very enjoyable evening was a dance.
Yesterday morning the Wellington Highland paraded for church', and attended divine service at St. James's, Newtown. . Chaplain-Major W. Shirer conducted the service.
A set of radiating pedals : : for tho Town Hall-organ has been presented to the city, by Messrs. Norman and Beard, who originally erected the organ;. The proposed boundaries of the! now borough of "Ohakune'..■ware the subject of a deputation to the Hon. D.;Buddo on Saturday. It appears that the area proposed to be included in the municipality is 9000 acres. The deputation urged that their properties, viz.; milling bush and: farm lands, 1 should not be embraced. Mr. Buddo, in reply,' said that'the deputation would be notified as to when-further objections fcrthe boundaries : would be considered. ;' .
