Play today was again favoured by almost ideal conditions', and there is every prospect that the competitors in the final rounds to-morrow will,be equally fortunate this morning. The semifinals of the professionals'-! match were decided, with' tho result that - Clements (the 1 Shirley coach), beat Simpson, of St. Clair, and Herd (the Napier repn> sentativo) put out Johnston. Clements and Herd willplay off in the final round • to-morlow morning: '.'■•-'"•'■.'"■,'. The' third., -round'of the Amateur Championship was also played. Duncan (Wellington) held his. position without difficulty, beating Seymour (Timaru) by 4 up and'2/to phiy.' H." 0. -Smith (Dunediu) beat Balneavis (Napier), but his brother wits put but'by Wood, and Lusk (Christchurch) beat Eidstoa (Miramar). The semi-finals were played in the 'afternoon, and the final, -which, will be over 36 holes, will, be .deciduti to-morrow, 'one round; being: played in .the morning, and the game finished'in the afternoon.
